What is JHP?

Jacketed Hollow Point (JHP) is a type of bullet designed to expand upon hitting a soft target, increasing its diameter and creating a larger wound channel. This expansion slows the bullet's penetration, reducing the risk of over-penetration and collateral damage. In India, JHP ammunition is primarily used by law enforcement agencies such as state police forces, the National Security Guard (NSG), and other counter-terrorism units. It is valued for its stopping power in close-quarters encounters, especially in urban environments where minimizing harm to bystanders is critical.
