Indian Veterinary Welfare
Full Form of IVW
What is IVW?
Indian Veterinary Welfare (IVW) refers to a set of government initiatives and schemes aimed at improving the health, productivity, and welfare of livestock and poultry across India. Administered by the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying under the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, IVW programs include disease control (e.g., Foot and Mouth Disease, Brucellosis), vaccination drives, nutritional support, and capacity building for veterinary professionals. The schemes are implemented through state animal husbandry departments and veterinary universities, often in collaboration with institutions like the Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI). IVW is particularly relevant in rural areas where livestock farming is a primary livelihood, contributing to food security and rural economy. Usage spans government policy documents, veterinary conferences, and agricultural extension services. For competitive exams such as UPSC, ICAR, and state agricultural services, IVW often appears in questions about animal husbandry policies, Government of India initiatives, and sustainable agriculture. The National Livestock Mission and Animal Health System Support are key components under the IVW umbrella.
