What is IOF?

Indian Ordnance Factories (IOF) refer to the network of defence manufacturing units under the Ordnance Factory Board (OFB), which operates under India's Ministry of Defence. Established to meet the ammunition and weaponry requirements of the Indian Armed Forces, the IOF is one of the oldest and largest defence production organisations in the country, with origins dating back to the British era in 1801 with the Gunpowder Factory at Ichapore.
