What is IISER?

The Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISER) are a group of premier autonomous institutes established by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, dedicated to undergraduate and postgraduate education in the basic sciences and research. The first IISER was founded in 2006, and currently there are seven campuses across India: IISER Pune, Kolkata, Mohali, Bhopal, Trivandrum, Tirupati, and Berhampur. These institutes aim to bridge the gap between science education and research by offering integrated BS-MS dual degree programs, PhDs, and integrated PhDs in disciplines like biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, and earth sciences.
