Gramin Outreach Yojana
Full Form of GOY
What is GOY?
Gramin Outreach Yojana (GOY) is a flagship rural development initiative of the Government of India, launched under the Ministry of Rural Development. It aims to deliver essential services—such as healthcare, education, skill training, and digital connectivity—directly to remote and underserved villages through mobile units and local resource centers. The scheme was introduced to bridge the urban-rural gap and ensure last-mile delivery of government welfare programs. GOY operates in all states, particularly targeting areas with limited infrastructure. It leverages public-private partnerships and community volunteers to maximize reach. The program is frequently mentioned in competitive exams like UPSC, SSC, and State PCS under the topic of rural development policies. Its focus on technology integration and decentralised governance aligns with the government's Digital India and Antyodaya missions. Citizens benefit from real-time information on schemes, access to telemedicine, and vocational training. The scheme has gained traction since its expansion in the 2022-23 budget, with an allocation of ₹500 crore. GOY is often compared to other outreach programs like the Common Service Centers and the National Rural Livelihood Mission.
