Earn Your Vote
Full Form of EYV
What is EYV?
Earn Your Vote (EYV) is a civic engagement campaign aimed at encouraging Indian youth to participate in the electoral process by recognizing the power and responsibility of their vote. Originating as a grassroots slogan, EYV has been adopted by non-governmental organisations, student bodies, and even some political parties to counter voter apathy among the 18–25 age group. In India, where nearly half the population is under 25, EYV initiatives are critical for building a robust democracy. Campaigns under EYV often include campus outreach drives, social media challenges, and mock polling events to demystify voting procedures. The Election Commission of India has indirectly supported similar movements through its Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation program. EYV is most visible during general elections and state assembly polls, particularly in urban and semi-urban areas with high youth density. For competitive exams like UPSC or state civil services, questions on voter awareness campaigns and constitutional provisions for universal adult suffrage are common, and understanding EYV helps candidates contextualize real-world electoral reforms. Ultimately, EYV is not an official government scheme but a powerful concept that reinforces the idea that every vote matters.
