Electric Vehicle Battery
Full Form of EVB
What is EVB?
Electric Vehicle Battery (EVB) refers to the rechargeable energy storage system that powers the electric motor in an electric vehicle (EV). In India, EVBs are predominantly lithium-ion based, though research into solid-state and sodium-ion batteries is ongoing. The development and adoption of EVBs are central to India's ambitious National Electric Mobility Mission Plan (NEMMP) and Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles (FAME) schemes. EVBs are used in all categories of electric vehicles—two-wheelers, three-wheelers, passenger cars, and commercial buses. They are distinguished by parameters like energy density, cycle life, charging speed, and cost. India is actively promoting local EVB manufacturing through production-linked incentive (PLI) schemes to reduce import dependence and create a domestic supply chain. For competitive exams like UPSC, SSC, and state-level engineering tests, topics such as EVB chemistry, thermal management, recycling, and government incentives are frequently covered. Understanding EVB technology is crucial for aspirants in environment, energy, and infrastructure domains. The growth of the EVB ecosystem in India also links to renewable energy integration and grid stability, making it a key area for sustainable development.
