E-Health Kerala
Full Form of EHK
What is EHK?
E-Health Kerala (EHK) is a digital health initiative launched by the Government of Kerala to create a unified electronic health records system for the state. The platform aims to digitise patient medical histories, hospital visits, prescriptions, and diagnostic reports, enabling seamless sharing of health data across public and private healthcare providers in Kerala. It plays a crucial role in India's broader National Digital Health Mission (NDHM) by serving as a state-level pilot for interoperable health records. EHK is primarily used within Kerala's hospitals, clinics, and primary health centres, and can be accessed by patients via a web portal or mobile app to view their own records and book appointments. It is also utilised by government health officials for data-driven policy making and disease surveillance. For students preparing for Kerala Public Service Commission (KPSC) exams or state-level health schemes, understanding EHK is relevant as it represents a key e-governance reform in healthcare. The system is built on open standards, ensuring data privacy and consent-based access, and has been gradually expanded since its pilot in 2018.
