What is DPK?
Digital Payment Kendra (DPK) is a dedicated hub established under the Government of India's Digital India initiative to promote cashless transactions and digital financial literacy in rural and semi-urban areas. These centers act as physical touchpoints where individuals, especially small business owners, farmers, and self-help groups, receive hands-on training on using Unified Payments Interface (UPI), Aadhaar-enabled payment systems, mobile banking apps, and point-of-sale devices. DPKs are typically set up in common service centers, post offices, or gram panchayat offices and are staffed with trained volunteers or banking correspondents. The primary role of a DPK is to bridge the digital divide by educating underserved communities about the benefits and security of digital payments, thereby supporting financial inclusion and reducing dependence on cash.
