Dairy Hub Village
Full Form of DHV
What is DHV?
Dairy Hub Village (DHV) is a flagship initiative under the National Dairy Plan (NDP) implemented by the Government of India through the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB). The scheme aims to transform selected villages into specialized dairy production hubs by providing infrastructure, veterinary services, artificial insemination, and market linkages to small and marginal farmers. DHVs are identified based on milk production potential and existing livestock population, with the goal of increasing milk yield and improving quality through scientific breeding and feeding practices. The programme is executed in coordination with state dairy federations and cooperatives, covering both milch cattle and buffaloes. DHV plays a crucial role in India’s White Revolution 2.0 by enhancing rural livelihoods, reducing import dependence, and ensuring sustainable dairy farming. It is commonly referenced in government reports, agricultural policy documents, and competitive exam syllabi for UPSC, IBPS, and state PCS exams. Understanding DHV is essential for aspirants focusing on rural development and animal husbandry schemes.
