Clinical Quality Registry
Full Form of CQR
What is CQR?
A Clinical Quality Registry (CQR) is a structured database that systematically collects data on patient outcomes, treatments, and clinical processes for a specific disease, condition, or procedure. In India, CQRs are increasingly used by hospitals, research institutes, and public health programmes to monitor and improve the quality of clinical care. They enable benchmarking across institutions, identify gaps in treatment protocols, and support evidence-based policy formulation. For example, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) maintains CQRs for conditions like stroke, acute myocardial infarction, and neonatal intensive care. These registries are typically maintained by trained data managers and are used by clinicians, administrators, and health regulators. CQRs are relevant for medical students preparing for NEET PG or public health exams, as questions on registry-based quality improvement appear in preventive and social medicine.
