Full Form of CLAT
What is CLAT?
The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is a centralized national-level entrance exam in India for admission to undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) law programs offered by 22 National Law Universities (NLUs) and various other participating institutions. Conducted annually by the Consortium of NLUs on a rotational basis, CLAT serves as the single gateway for thousands of aspirants seeking careers in litigation, corporate law, judiciary, and legal services. The exam tests candidates on English language, current affairs, legal reasoning, logical reasoning, and quantitative techniques for the UG level, while PG candidates are assessed on constitutional law, jurisprudence, and other law subjects. CLAT was introduced in 2008 to streamline admissions and reduce the stress of multiple entrance tests. Its scores are also accepted by several private law schools and public sector undertakings. The exam is typically held in December. For competitive exam aspirants, CLAT is one of the most sought-after law entrance tests in India, demanding consistent preparation and strong analytical skills. The test's significance lies in its role as the primary academic gateway to India's premier legal education institutions, shaping the country's legal fraternity.
