Business Responsibility Report
Full Form of BRR
What is BRR?
The Business Responsibility Report (BRR) is a comprehensive disclosure document mandated by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) for the top 1,000 listed companies by market capitalization. It requires corporations to report on their performance across nine principles of the National Guidelines on Responsible Business Conduct (NGRBC), covering environmental, social, and governance (ESG) aspects. Introduced in 2012 and later updated with the Business Responsibility and Sustainability Report (BRSR) format, BRR serves as a tool for investors and stakeholders to assess a company's ethical and sustainable practices. In the Indian context, it is filed annually as part of the annual report and is used by fund managers, analysts, and regulators to evaluate non-financial risks. The BRR is particularly relevant for exams like UPSC (Corporate Governance), CA Final (SEBI regulations), and MBA courses on business ethics. It reflects India's push towards responsible capitalism and aligns with global ESG reporting standards, making it a cornerstone of modern corporate transparency in the country.
