Azad Hind
Full Form of AZH
What is AZH?
Azad Hind, meaning 'Free India', refers to the provisional government and military force established by Indian nationalists in exile during World War II. Spearheaded by Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, the Azad Hind movement aimed to liberate India from British colonial rule with the support of the Axis powers. The Azad Hind Fauj (Indian National Army) fought alongside the Japanese army in Southeast Asia, notably in the Burma campaign. The movement inspired millions of Indians with its call of 'Jai Hind' and remains a powerful symbol of resistance and patriotism. In India, Azad Hind is studied in history textbooks, and its legacy is invoked in discussions about nationalism and the armed struggle for independence. For competitive exams like UPSC and state PSCs, questions on the Azad Hind movement and its leadership are common under modern Indian history.
