Azad Hind Fauj
Full Form of AZF
What is AZF?
Azad Hind Fauj, also known as the Indian National Army (INA), was a military force formed in 1942 under the leadership of Subhas Chandra Bose to fight against British colonial rule in India. The army was largely composed of Indian prisoners of war and civilian volunteers from Southeast Asia, with its headquarters in Singapore. The AZF played a symbolic and strategic role in the Indian freedom struggle, particularly during the Burma Campaign, where it fought alongside the Japanese Imperial Army. Although the AZF did not achieve military victory, its existence rallied nationalist sentiment and inspired millions of Indians. The motto of the AZF, 'Jai Hind', remains a popular patriotic greeting in India today. In Indian competitive exams like UPSC, SSC, and state civil services, questions frequently appear about the formation, leadership, and impact of the Azad Hind Fauj, making it a key topic in modern Indian history.
