Advisory Committee for Youth
Full Form of ACY
What is ACY?
The Advisory Committee for Youth (ACY) is a non-statutory body constituted by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, to advise on policies and programmes aimed at the holistic development of young Indians. Established to bring diverse perspectives into youth governance, the ACY includes representatives from state governments, youth organisations, academia, and civil society. It meets periodically to discuss issues such as skill development, employment, mental health, civic participation, and sports promotion among youth. The committee's recommendations guide the formulation of schemes like the National Youth Corps and the Yuva Utsav. While the ACY is not a permanent institution, it is reconstituted as needed to address emerging challenges facing India's youth demographic. For competitive exams like UPSC and state PSCs, understanding the role of advisory bodies like ACY helps in answering questions on youth policy and governance structures in India.
