Vocational Training Provider
Full Form of VTP
What is VTP?
A Vocational Training Provider, commonly abbreviated as VTP, is an organisation authorised by the Government of India to deliver skill development and vocational training programmes to Indian youth. VTPs play a central role in flagship schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS), and the Skill India Mission, where they design curricula, conduct training sessions, and assess candidates for industry-relevant job roles. These providers may include private training companies, NGOs, industrial training institutes, or government-affiliated bodies operating across sectors like healthcare, information technology, retail, manufacturing, and agriculture. To gain recognition as a VTP, an entity must register with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) or relevant Sector Skill Councils and adhere to strict quality benchmarks. Certifications issued by VTPs are aligned with the National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF), improving trainees' employability across India. For students, job seekers, and aspirants preparing for SSC, banking, or other competitive government examinations, understanding the role of VTPs is highly relevant as questions on skill development initiatives frequently appear in the general awareness sections of these tests.
