What is VPR?

The Vice President, often abbreviated as VPR, is the second-highest constitutional office in the Republic of India, holding a position of great political and ceremonial importance. The VPR also serves as the ex-officio Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Indian Parliament, and presides over its sessions, ensuring parliamentary procedures are followed. In the Indian political framework, the Vice President succeeds the President in the event of a vacancy and acts as President when the President is unavailable due to illness or travel abroad.
