What is VCO?
A Voltage Controlled Oscillator, commonly known as VCO, is a fundamental electronic oscillator circuit whose output frequency is directly controlled by an input voltage signal. In simple terms, the frequency of oscillation varies in proportion to the applied DC voltage, making it a critical building block in modern electronics and communication systems. In India, VCOs are widely used in telecommunications equipment, mobile phones, radar systems, and signal processing devices manufactured by companies like BEL, DRDO laboratories, and various private sector firms.
