Uruguayan Peso
Full Form of UYU
What is UYU?
UYU stands for Uruguayan Peso, the official currency of Uruguay, a South American country. Represented internationally by the ISO 4217 currency code UYU, the peso is subdivided into 100 centésimos and is issued by the Central Bank of Uruguay. The currency is denoted by the symbol $U or N$ to distinguish it from other dollar-based currencies in the region. In India, the UYU code holds importance for students and professionals engaged in international trade, foreign exchange markets, and global finance sectors. Importers and exporters conducting business with Uruguayan counterparts must track UYU to INR conversion rates regularly. The currency also appears frequently in competitive examinations such as IBPS, SSC, UPSC, and RBI tests, where candidates are often quizzed on world currencies and their corresponding ISO codes. Indian travellers visiting Uruguay for tourism or business purposes also need familiarity with UYU for their foreign exchange planning. Introduced in its current form in 1993, the Uruguayan Peso has stabilised considerably over the decades, making it a relatively stable South American currency for cross-border transactions.
