Training and Visit Officer
Full Form of TVO
What is TVO?
The Training and Visit Officer, commonly known as TVO, is a designated position within India's agricultural extension framework. Operating under the Training and Visit (T&V) system introduced in 1974 with World Bank assistance, the TVO serves as a vital link between agricultural research institutions and farmers at the grassroots level. The officer's primary responsibilities include conducting regular field visits, organizing training sessions for farmers, and disseminating information on modern crop cultivation techniques, soil health management, and integrated pest control practices. TVOs typically work at the block level, supervising Village Extension Workers and coordinating with Krishi Vigyan Kendras, state agricultural universities, and various central and state government schemes. They play a significant role in promoting sustainable agriculture, improving crop yields, and ensuring that small and marginal farmers benefit from the latest agricultural innovations. The position is recruited through state-level agricultural department examinations conducted by public service commissions. For candidates preparing for NABARD Grade A, agricultural officer exams, IBPS SO, and civil services, understanding the structure and functioning of the T&V system and the role of TVOs forms an important part of the agriculture and rural development syllabus.
