Travel and Tourism Course
Full Form of TTC
What is TTC?
Travel and Tourism Course, commonly abbreviated as TTC, is a short-term professional programme designed to equip students with the foundational knowledge and practical skills required to work in the travel, tourism, and hospitality sectors. In India, TTC programmes are offered by various government and private institutes, including IATA-authorised centres, state tourism boards, polytechnics, and recognised universities. The course typically covers essential topics such as ticketing and reservation systems, tour operations, customer service, travel geography, travel agency management, foreign exchange procedures, and basic hospitality operations. TTC qualifications are widely recognised by travel agencies, airlines, tour operators, hotel chains, and cruise companies across the country, making it a popular choice for students who want to enter the workforce quickly after completing their Class XII board examinations. The programme usually ranges from six months to one year in duration and serves as a stepping stone to higher qualifications like a Bachelor of Business Administration in Tourism, a Bachelor of Tourism Studies, or an MBA in Hospitality Management. Several Indian states also conduct entrance tests for admission to government-run TTC institutes, and for competitive exams and government tourism department recruitments, a TTC certificate is often considered a valuable additional qualification by selection panels.
