Telangana Rashtra Samithi
Full Form of TRS
What is TRS?
Telangana Rashtra Samithi, commonly known by its abbreviation TRS, is a regional political party in India primarily active in the state of Telangana. Founded on April 27, 2001, by Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), the party was established with the singular objective of creating a separate Telangana state carved out of the combined state of Andhra Pradesh. After years of intense political mobilization, public agitations, and parliamentary struggles, TRS achieved its goal in 2014 when Telangana officially became the 29th state of India, and KCR became its first Chief Minister. The party has since been a dominant force in Telangana politics, winning multiple assembly elections and forming successive governments under the leadership of KCR and later his son K.T. Rama Rao. In October 2022, TRS was officially renamed as Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) with a national outlook, though it continues to remain strongly rooted in Telangana politics. Understanding TRS is essential for students preparing for UPSC, TSPSC, APPSC, and other competitive examinations focused on Indian polity and current affairs.
