SKS refers to SKS Microfinance Limited, one of India's most prominent microfinance institutions, headquartered in Hyderabad, Telangana. Founded in 1997 by Vikram Akula, the company became a household name in Indian financial inclusion by providing small loans to women in rural and semi-urban areas who lacked access to traditional banking services. SKS played a pioneering role in transforming the microfinance landscape in India, helping millions of underprivileged borrowers start small businesses and improve their livelihoods.
