What is SDN?
Software-Defined Networking (SDN) is a revolutionary approach to computer networking architecture that fundamentally separates the control plane from the underlying data plane, enabling network administrators to manage, configure, and optimise network behaviour dynamically through software-based controllers rather than relying solely on traditional hardware appliances. In India, SDN has become a cornerstone technology driving the country's rapid digital transformation agenda, particularly with the massive expansion of cloud data centres, 5G infrastructure rollouts, and ambitious smart city projects across metropolitan hubs like Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune, and Mumbai.
