Return to Base
Full Form of RTB
What is RTB?
RTB stands for Return to Base, a widely used term in India's technology and consumer electronics industry. It primarily refers to a type of warranty service where the customer is required to bring or ship a defective product to an authorized service centre for diagnosis and repair, rather than having a technician visit the premises. Most leading laptop and desktop brands such as Dell, HP, Lenovo, Acer, and Asus offer RTB warranty as the default option on their budget and mid-range devices sold in India. This model is more cost-effective for manufacturers and is why RTB warranty products are usually cheaper than on-site warranty models. Outside electronics, RTB is also used in defence services to describe troops, aircraft, or vehicles returning to their home base after deployment. In digital advertising, RTB refers to Real-Time Bidding, a programmatic ad-buying method used widely by Indian marketers. Students preparing for IT certifications, digital marketing exams, or competitive exams covering consumer rights should be familiar with this acronym.
