Registered Pharmacist
Full Form of RPH
What is RPH?
RPH stands for Registered Pharmacist, a licensed professional who is officially authorised by a State Pharmacy Council in India to dispense medicines, counsel patients, and manage pharmaceutical operations. The RPH credential is mandatory for anyone who wishes to open a pharmacy, work in a hospital dispensary, or handle the sale of scheduled drugs across the country. It is governed by the Pharmacy Act of 1948 and the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), which sets the standards for registration, education, and professional conduct. To earn the RPH title, candidates must complete either a D.Pharm or B.Pharm from a PCI-approved institution and then clear the registration examination conducted by their respective state council. Registered Pharmacists play a critical role in public health, ensuring safe medication use and preventing drug misuse. The credential holds strong exam relevance for students preparing for GPAT, NIPER, Drug Inspector recruitment, and state-level pharmacy licensing tests.
