Quick Verification Key
Full Form of QVK
What is QVK?
A Quick Verification Key (QVK) is a static or dynamic security credential used by Indian banks to authenticate high-value or sensitive digital transactions. Unlike an OTP, which changes with every request, a QVK is often assigned during initial account registration and remains valid for a set period, reducing the need for repeated SMS-based codes. It is typically employed in net banking, UPI apps, and corporate payment gateways to add an extra layer of protection against fraud. In India, QVKs are part of the multi-factor authentication framework mandated by the Reserve Bank of India for transactions above a certain threshold. They are commonly used by public sector banks like SBI and private players such as HDFC and ICICI. Users must enter their QVK along with their login credentials or UPI PIN to finalise a transfer or bill payment. For students preparing for banking exams like IBPS or SBI PO, understanding QVK concepts helps in answering questions on digital payment security and authentication mechanisms. The QVK system has reduced transaction failures and made banking more accessible in rural areas where mobile network coverage is inconsistent.
