Quick Response Document
Full Form of QRD
What is QRD?
A Quick Response Document (QRD) is a formal written response issued by a procuring entity, typically a government department or public sector undertaking, to address queries, clarifications, or requests for information from bidders during the tendering process. In India, QRDs play a crucial role in ensuring transparency and fairness in public procurement, particularly on platforms like the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) and central public procurement portals. They are used across central and state government tenders, including infrastructure projects, IT contracts, and supply agreements. A QRD typically consolidates all questions raised by prospective bidders and provides official answers, often forming an addendum to the original tender document. This process helps maintain a level playing field by ensuring that all bidders receive the same information. For students and professionals preparing for competitive exams such as UPSC, SSC, or state civil services, understanding the tender and procurement process—including the role of QRDs—is important for governance and public administration sections. Exam questions may ask about the steps in e-procurement or the significance of documents like QRDs in ensuring accountability.
