Quality of Life Questionnaire
Full Form of QLQ
What is QLQ?
The Quality of Life Questionnaire (QLQ) is a standardized patient-reported outcome instrument widely used in clinical research and oncology to assess the physical, emotional, social, and functional well-being of individuals. In India, the QLQ—particularly the EORTC QLQ-C30 developed by the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer—has been adopted by major cancer centres, research institutes, and pharmaceutical companies to evaluate treatment efficacy and side effects from the patient's perspective. It is administered in outpatient clinics, clinical trials, and longitudinal studies across Indian hospitals such as Tata Memorial Hospital and AIIMS. The QLQ typically comprises multiple scales measuring symptoms like pain, fatigue, and nausea, as well as global health status. Its use has grown in India due to the increasing focus on holistic cancer care and value-based healthcare. For competitive medical exams like NEET PG or AIIMS, familiarity with QLQ may appear in questions about patient-reported outcomes or clinical trial endpoints.
