Quick Learning Programme
Full Form of QLP
What is QLP?
A Quick Learning Programme (QLP) is a short-duration, intensive training module designed to impart specific job-oriented skills rapidly. In India, QLPs are commonly deployed by government bodies like the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and state skill missions under the Skill India campaign. They target unemployed youth, school dropouts, and workers seeking reskilling, focusing on sectors such as retail, hospitality, logistics, and digital services. Typically lasting 2–6 months, a QLP combines classroom instruction with hands-on practice and often leads to certification recognised by industry partners. The programmes are rolled out through registered training partners in both urban and rural areas, making vocational education accessible. QLPs also play a role in bridging the gap between formal education and industry demands by offering flexible learning paths. For competitive exams like UPSC or state PCS, questions on skill development schemes often mention QLP as part of the government’s strategy to enhance employability. The model emphasises outcome-based learning, with periodic assessments to ensure competency. By focusing on practical skills rather than theoretical knowledge, QLPs help reduce the skill deficit and boost entrepreneurship. Their modular structure allows learners to pick courses matching local job markets, thereby fostering inclusive economic growth across states.
