Quality Healthcare Quotient
Full Form of QHQ
What is QHQ?
The Quality Healthcare Quotient (QHQ) is a composite metric used to evaluate the overall effectiveness, safety, and patient-centeredness of healthcare services. It aggregates indicators such as clinical outcomes, infection rates, wait times, patient satisfaction scores, and adherence to evidence-based protocols. In India, the QHQ framework is increasingly adopted by hospital chains, insurance companies, and government health schemes like Ayushman Bharat to benchmark facilities and drive continuous improvement. The quotient is typically calculated on a 0–100 scale, with higher values indicating superior care delivery. QHQ reports are used by hospital administrators for internal audits, by patients to compare hospitals, and by policymakers to allocate resources. It is also featured in National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) guidelines. For competitive exams such as the NEET PG or UPSC Health Management papers, understanding QHQ can provide insights into quality assurance models in public health.
