Quarantine Health Guidelines
Full Form of QHG
What is QHG?
QHG stands for Quarantine Health Guidelines, a set of protocols issued by the Indian government, primarily the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, to manage the health risks associated with quarantine during the COVID-19 pandemic. These guidelines outline procedures for home isolation, facility quarantine, symptom monitoring, and testing requirements for travelers and contacts. In India, QHG played a critical role from 2020 onward, evolving with the pandemic wave—such as during the Delta and Omicron surges—to include rules on thermal screening, RT-PCR test validity, and digital tracking via the Aarogya Setu app. They are used by state authorities, airport staff, and local health departments to enforce compliance. For civil services and medical entrance exams like UPSC and NEET, understanding QHG is relevant for questions on public health policy and disaster management. The guidelines also intersected with the Disaster Management Act and Epidemic Diseases Act, making them a key reference for governance during health emergencies.
