Quality Control Circle
Full Form of QCC
What is QCC?
A Quality Control Circle (QCC) is a small group of employees who voluntarily meet regularly to identify, analyze, and solve work-related problems, particularly those affecting quality, productivity, and efficiency. Originating in Japan as part of the Total Quality Management (TQM) movement, QCCs have been widely adopted in Indian manufacturing, automotive, pharmaceutical, and service industries to foster a culture of continuous improvement. Members typically come from the same work area and use structured problem-solving tools such as cause-and-effect diagrams, Pareto charts, and brainstorming. In India, QCCs are promoted by organizations like the Quality Circle Forum of India (QCFI) and are recognized as a cost-effective way to enhance employee involvement and reduce defects. They are commonly implemented in factories, assembly lines, and even in IT companies to improve processes. For students of engineering and management, understanding QCCs is important for exams like GATE, CAT, and NASSCOM assessments, as they illustrate practical applications of quality management principles.
