Quad Axle Vehicle
Full Form of QAV
What is QAV?
A Quad Axle Vehicle (QAV) is a heavy-duty military transport platform designed with four axles to carry and launch ballistic missiles. In India, QAVs play a critical role in the Integrated Guided Missile Development Programme (IGMDP), serving as mobile launchers for the Agni and Prithvi series of missiles. These vehicles enhance strategic deterrence by allowing rapid deployment and mobility across diverse terrains, reducing vulnerability to preemptive strikes. QAVs are primarily used by the Indian Army's Strategic Forces Command (SFC) during field exercises and actual tests. They are also employed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) for developmental trials. In exams like UPSC, CDS, and NDA, questions often focus on India's missile systems and their launch platforms, making knowledge of QAV relevant for defense aspirants. The vehicle's robust construction and high payload capacity make it indispensable for India's nuclear triad and second-strike capability.
