Full Form of PKS
What is PKS?
Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana (PKS) is a flagship Central Sector Scheme launched by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) in India. It aims to create modern infrastructure for food processing, reduce post-harvest losses, enhance value addition, and increase the income of farmers. The scheme comprises several components such as Mega Food Parks, Integrated Cold Chain, Food Safety and Quality Assurance, and Creation/Expansion of Food Processing & Preservation Capacities. It is implemented across all states and union territories, with a special focus on clusters with high agricultural produce. PKS was introduced in 2017 as a re‑structured version of the earlier Mega Food Park Scheme and is funded through the Government of India’s budget. It plays a vital role in linking farmers to processors and markets, thereby boosting the Make in India initiative and promoting employment in the food processing sector. For competitive exams like UPSC, SSC, and banking, PKS is frequently asked under the topics of government schemes and food security. Understanding its objectives and components helps aspirants answer questions related to agricultural reforms and economic development.
