Online Zonal Gateway
Full Form of OZG
What is OZG?
The Online Zonal Gateway (OZG) is a centralized digital platform developed by Indian Railways to integrate and coordinate operations across its 18 zones. It serves as a unified interface for managing train schedules, passenger reservations, freight logistics, real-time tracking, and crew management. Implemented by the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS), OZG replaced fragmented legacy systems with a single web-based gateway, enabling seamless data exchange between zonal headquarters, divisional offices, and field stations. It is actively used by railway officials, reservation clerks, and control room operators to monitor train movements, allocate resources, and disseminate information to passengers through IRCTC, NTES, and station displays. The system is critical for improving operational efficiency, reducing delays, and enhancing passenger experience. For competitive exams like RRB NTPC and Railway JE, knowledge of OZG is often tested under topics related to modernisation of Indian Railways and information technology in governance.
