Ordnance Headquarters
Full Form of OHQ
What is OHQ?
OHQ stands for Ordnance Headquarters, the apex command and administrative centre of the Indian Army's Ordnance Corps. This corps is responsible for the entire lifecycle of ordnance matériel — from procurement and quality assurance to storage, maintenance, and distribution of weapons, ammunition, vehicles, and other military stores. The OHQ, based in Secunderabad, Telangana, coordinates with ordnance depots, the Ordnance Factory Board, and field units to ensure seamless logistics support for all army formations. It plays a critical role in sustaining combat readiness by managing inventory, planning indents, and overseeing the repair and recovery of equipment. The term is frequently used in defence policy documents, training manuals, and by aspirants preparing for competitive exams like the Combined Defence Services (CDS) and National Defence Academy (NDA). Understanding the OHQ's functions is essential for candidates aiming for technical and logistics branches in the Indian Armed Forces.
