Organised Crime Group
Full Form of OCG
What is OCG?
An Organised Crime Group (OCG) is a structured association of three or more persons, existing for a period of time and acting in concert with the aim of committing serious offences to obtain, directly or indirectly, a financial or other material benefit. In India, OCGs are defined under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) and similar state laws, targeting syndicates involved in drug trafficking, extortion, cybercrime, and human trafficking. These groups operate across state and national borders, often using violence, corruption, and intimidation. The term is frequently used by Indian law enforcement agencies such as the CBI, NIA, and state police units when investigating sophisticated criminal networks. Competitive exams like UPSC, SSC, and state police recruitment tests include questions on organised crime legislation, definitions of OCG, and landmark cases. Understanding OCGs is essential for aspirants of law, police services, and criminology in India.
