Nai Manzil Yojana
Full Form of NMY
What is NMY?
Nai Manzil Yojana (NMY) is a flagship scheme of the Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India, launched in 2015. It is designed to empower youth from minority communities by providing them with formal education up to Class 12 or equivalent, along with job-oriented skill training. The scheme bridges the gap between mainstream education and livelihood opportunities, addressing low literacy and employability among minorities. It operates through a network of state-level implementing agencies and partner institutions, offering integrated courses that combine academic learning with vocational modules. NMY is especially relevant for out-of-school youth and those who have dropped out early, enabling them to complete their schooling and gain certified skills. The scheme is implemented across India, with special focus on areas with high minority concentration. It also covers stipends, hostel facilities, and placement assistance. For competitive exams like UPSC, SSC, and State PCS, NMY is a notable government intervention under social welfare and minority affairs, often featuring in current affairs and policy questions.
