National Logistics Organisation
Full Form of NLO
What is NLO?
The National Logistics Organisation (NLO) is an inter-ministerial body established by the Government of India in 2022, operating under the Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce and Industry. Its primary role is to ensure integrated planning and implementation of logistics-related policies across various ministries and state governments, aiming to reduce the high logistics cost in India from 13-14% of GDP to a globally competitive level. The NLO coordinates with agencies like the Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation and the Logistics Division to streamline cargo movement, digitise trade documentation, and promote multi-modal transport. It is commonly referenced in policy documents, industry reports, and government circulars related to supply chain, trade facilitation, and infrastructure development. For competitive examinations such as UPSC, SSC, and banking exams, questions about NLO often appear under government schemes and economic reforms, making it a must-know topic for current affairs preparation.
