What is NGAN?
Next Generation Access Network, commonly known as NGAN, refers to a modern broadband infrastructure designed to deliver high-speed internet connectivity to residential and business users through advanced technologies such as fibre-to-the-home (FTTH), fibre-to-the-curb (FTTC), very-high-bitrate digital subscriber line (VDSL), and passive optical networking systems. In India, NGAN plays a vital role in the country's rapidly growing telecom sector, where major operators like Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, BSNL, and Tata Play Fiber are investing heavily in fibre-based next-generation networks to meet rising data consumption, support the Digital India mission, and strengthen 5G backhaul infrastructure across the country.
