Linux
Full Form of LNX
What is LNX?
Linux is an open-source, Unix-like operating system kernel first released by Linus Torvalds in 1991. In India, Linux powers a significant portion of enterprise servers, government digital infrastructure, and academic computer labs. It is widely used in the Indian IT sector for web hosting, cloud computing, and software development. The Indian government has adopted Linux in several e-governance projects due to its cost-effectiveness, security, and customizability. Linux is also a staple in Indian engineering and computer science curricula, with many institutions teaching system administration, shell scripting, and open-source development on Linux platforms. The operating system is commonly found in both server environments and as a desktop alternative for programmers. In competitive exams like GATE and campus placements, knowledge of Linux commands and file systems is frequently tested. Its role in India's digital transformation, particularly in the growth of startups and government portals, continues to expand.
