Lakhpati Farmer Network
Full Form of LFN
What is LFN?
The Lakhpati Farmer Network (LFN) is a government-led initiative in India designed to connect progressive farmers and help them achieve an annual income of at least one lakh rupees. The scheme was introduced as part of the broader push to double farmers' incomes by 2022 and improve rural livelihoods. Under LFN, farmers are organised into self-help groups or clusters where they receive training in modern agricultural techniques, market linkages, and digital tools for better price realisation. The network also facilitates access to institutional credit, subsidies, and government schemes like PM-KISAN and FPOs. LFN is primarily implemented by state agriculture departments and NABARD in collaboration with local cooperatives. It is used in rural training camps, block-level meetings, and online portals that track farmer progress. The initiative is particularly relevant for students preparing for competitive exams such as UPSC Civil Services, where questions on government schemes for agriculture are common. By fostering peer learning and collective bargaining, LFN aims to transform subsistence farming into a profitable enterprise and reduce rural distress across states like Punjab, Maharashtra, and Karnataka.
