Kerala State Quota
Full Form of KSQ
What is KSQ?
The Kerala State Quota (KSQ) refers to a reservation policy under which a fixed percentage of seats in educational institutions within the state of Kerala are reserved for students who are residents of Kerala. This quota is applicable across various higher education streams, including engineering, medical, dental, pharmacy, and arts and science colleges. The KSQ is implemented during the centralized admission process managed by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE), Kerala. It ensures that local students have priority access to state-funded and private self-financing colleges, thereby reducing the need to seek education outside the state. The quota typically covers government and government-aided institutions, and in some cases, a portion of seats in private colleges is also allocated under KSQ. Students applying under KSQ must provide proof of residence, such as a domicile certificate or a certificate of having studied in Kerala for a specified number of years. The KSQ is a critical component of Kerala's education landscape, balancing merit with regional equity. For competitive exam aspirants, understanding KSQ is important for state-specific general knowledge questions, especially in Kerala Public Service Commission exams and entrance tests for professional courses.
