What is KSCC?
The Kerala State Co-operative Consumer Federation (KSCC), commonly known as Supplyco, is the apex consumer cooperative organisation in the Indian state of Kerala. Established in 1975, it functions under the Kerala Co-operative Societies Act and is responsible for procuring and distributing essential commodities at fair prices to the public. KSCC operates a vast network of retail outlets, including Maveli Stores and Supermarkets, across all districts of Kerala, ensuring the availability of food grains, pulses, edible oils, spices, and other daily necessities. Its primary role is to stabilise market prices and protect consumers from exploitation by private traders by offering goods at controlled rates, especially during festivals and emergencies. The federation also plays a key role in the Public Distribution System (PDS) by supplying ration items to over 90 lakh families in the state. KSCC is frequently featured in Kerala PSC and banking exams as a notable example of cooperative sector success in India. With a turnover exceeding ₹4,000 crores, it stands as a model for consumer protection and cooperative movement in the country.
