Kisan Nyay Yojana
Full Form of KNY
What is KNY?
Kisan Nyay Yojana (KNY) is a flagship farmer welfare scheme launched by the Government of Chhattisgarh in 2020. The scheme aims to provide direct financial assistance to landholding farmers in the state, ensuring stable income support and reducing agrarian distress. Under KNY, eligible farmers receive an annual payment of ₹10,000 per acre of irrigated land and ₹7,000 per acre of non-irrigated land, directly transferred to their bank accounts in two installments. This initiative covers all farmers holding land records, regardless of caste or income, making it one of the most inclusive state-level schemes. The program is implemented through the state's revenue and agriculture departments, with funds disbursed via the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system to ensure transparency. KNY is particularly relevant in the context of Indian agriculture, where fluctuating crop prices and climate risks threaten livelihoods. The scheme complements central initiatives like PM-KISAN by providing additional state-level support. For competitive exams (e.g., UPSC, State PCS, SSC), KNY appears in questions on state government schemes, farmer welfare policies, and fiscal federalism. Its focus on universal land-based transfers distinguishes it from other income support programs. Overall, KNY represents a significant step toward doubling farmer income and enhancing rural economic stability in Chhattisgarh.
