Jawaharlal Nehru Zoological Park
Full Form of JZN
What is JZN?
Jawaharlal Nehru Zoological Park (JZN) is one of India’s most visited zoos, located in Hyderabad, Telangana. Established in 1959 and managed by the Forest Department of Telangana, it spans over 380 acres and houses more than 1,500 animals representing 150 species, including endangered white tigers, lions, and Indian rhinoceros. The park serves as a crucial centre for wildlife conservation, breeding programs, and public education about biodiversity. It offers safari rides, a butterfly park, and a dedicated reptile house, making it a popular destination for students, families, and tourists. JZN often features in general knowledge sections of competitive exams like SSC, UPSC, and state-level recruitment tests, where questions about India’s major zoos and their locations are common. The park also conducts awareness programmes and nature camps to promote environmental consciousness among youth. Its role in ex-situ conservation and as a recreational space underscores its importance in urban India. JZN is not just a tourist spot but a living classroom for understanding India’s rich wildlife heritage.
