Jawahar Kala Kendra

What is JKK?
Jawahar Kala Kendra (JKK) is a premier multi-arts cultural centre located in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. Established in 1993 and named after Jawaharlal Nehru, it serves as a hub for performing arts, visual arts, literature, and cultural exchange. Designed by renowned architect Charles Correa, its distinctive architecture—inspired by the nine planets of Hindu astrology (Navagraha)—makes it an iconic landmark. JKK hosts theatre productions, music concerts, dance recitals, film screenings, art exhibitions, workshops, and literary festivals throughout the year. It is managed by the Rajasthan Sangeet Natak Akademi and plays a vital role in preserving and promoting Rajasthani folk traditions alongside contemporary art forms. The centre is frequently used by artists, students, and tourists, and it also runs educational programmes for schools and colleges. For competitive exams like RAS or state level culture-related questions, JKK is highlighted as a key institution under Rajasthan tourism and cultural policy. Its annual events, such as the Jaipur Literature Festival (in part), attract national and international visitors, making JKK a cornerstone of India's cultural landscape.
