Integrated Rural Youth
Full Form of IRY
What is IRY?
Integrated Rural Youth (IRY) is a developmental scheme launched by the Government of India under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports to empower young individuals in rural areas. It focuses on skill training, entrepreneurship development, and employment generation, aiming to reduce urban migration by creating sustainable livelihoods in villages. The program is implemented through district-level youth centers and partnerships with state governments and NGOs. IRY provides financial assistance for vocational courses, startup support, and leadership camps, targeting youth aged 15-35 years. It is actively used in rural development policies and is often referenced in government reports and competitive exam syllabi such as UPSC and state civil services. The scheme aligns with the Skill India mission and has been rolled out in over 200 districts since its inception. Its relevance in exams lies in understanding rural governance and inclusive growth strategies.
